Bakhita Arts recently unveiled a mural it commissioned at Bannon Hall at St. Mary Catholic Church.

Painted by Alex Patterson of Fort Mill, the mural reflects the church’s founding in the mid-40s and honors the original parishioners, two pastors and a brother who also were leaders in Rock Hill’s Civil Rights Movement.

A painter since childhood, Alex uses her talent to build community. “It’s been an honor to tell the amazing story of St. Mary Catholic Church,” she said. “I have loved being part of this family.”  paintingsandmorebyalex@gmail.com
